The digestifs that we list come with a history. Many moons ago there was a restaurant in Brighton called Le Grandgousier which was so good that Trevor would leave his Chelsea pad (yes, it was that long ago) and drive down for dinner. It was run by a man called Lewis Harris whose sons would go on to become chefs, too: Henry Harris of Fifth Floor and Racine, and Matthew Harris who was for a long time at the helm of Bibendum.
Lewis eventually became a spirit merchant who, in our early days, would time his arrival into St. JOHN to perfection; Fergus would be at the bar already, digestif would be tasted and orders would be duly taken. All these years later, Lewis has sadly passed on with the family, Henry and Denise, taking up the reins. We have finally got a selection of his fine bottles on our lists for you. Lewis is here in spirit!
