Winemaker: Xavier de Franssu
We had one important focus at the beginning of 2016 and that was to bring back St. Chinian to the list, frankly an omission and an embarrassment to Trevor who knows the appellation well and is often asked to judge the wines. Hooray, the shortlist was difficult as was the final choice but with Xavier de Franssu’s wines we know we have someone that is not only making good wines now but is also someone that will only go on improving as he works his limestone and sandstone soils. Originally from Picardie he has created his domaine on the back of a vineyard he discovered which had reverted to simply selling to the cave co-operative. He has and is working very hard creating his home, his vineyard and his excellent wines, watch this space.
